Xender for PC: transfer between phone and computer wirelessly

Xender for PC has two clean paths. The browser-based Xender for PC experience runs in any browser on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS — no install, no admin rights needed. The Microsoft Store app gives a native Xender for PC window on Windows 10 and 11. Both move files at up to 40 MB/s directly between your phone and the computer, without uploading anything to a server.

How to connect Xender to PC in four taps

The quickest Xender for PC method uses the built-in web client, which needs nothing installed on the computer. Start by pointing any browser on your PC at web.xender.com; the mobile app does the rest of the Xender for PC pairing work. From there, any file on the phone can be dragged to the browser window and vice versa.

Recommended · No install
Method 01
Use Xender Web
Zero install on the computer. Best for laptops, hotel PCs, shared computers, or Mac.
  1. Open web.xender.com in any browser on the PC (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave).
  2. Launch the mobile app on your phone and tap Connect to PC from the main menu.
  3. Scan the QR code shown on the computer screen using the phone camera inside the app.
  4. Transfer files in either direction — drag them into the browser tab or pick them from the phone.
Native · Windows only
Method 02
Microsoft Store app
Better if you transfer often from the same PC. Runs as a desktop window with history.
  1. Open the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 or 11.
  2. Search Xender Share Music Transfer and open the official listing.
  3. Install by clicking Get. The download is around 30 MB.
  4. Pair by launching the PC app, then scanning its QR with the phone's Connect to PC flow.

Web client or Windows app?

Both Xender for PC methods use the same underlying direct-Wi-Fi transfer, so speeds and file support are identical. The differences are in setup friction and workflow — one Xender for PC option is zero-install, the other is a real desktop window.

Xender for PC setup tips that save five minutes

Most failed Xender for PC pairings trace back to the same three issues. Check these before assuming the app is broken.

Same Wi-Fi, Required
The phone and PC must be on the same local network. Different SSIDs (home + guest, 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz virtual networks) will not see each other.
Disable VPN Temporarily
Active VPNs on either device break LAN discovery. Turn them off during pairing. Files never leave the local network anyway — no privacy downside.
Allow Local Network (iOS)
On iPhone, iOS asks for local network permission the first time you open the app. Approve it — without it, the PC won't show up in the device list.
Firewall Whitelist
Windows Defender may prompt once when the app runs. Click Allow access. The one-time approval covers all future transfers.

When the connection doesn't stick

The failure modes are predictable. Work through the list below — one of them solves nearly every pairing issue.

  1. ISSUE · 01
QR code scans but nothing happensThe phone and PC are on different networks. Reconnect the phone to the same Wi-Fi the PC is using (check 2.4 GHz vs 5 GHz — some routers expose them as separate SSIDs).
  2. ISSUE · 02
PC not showing in the app's device listVPN on either device is the usual culprit. Disable it and refresh the web page. On iPhone, also check Settings → Privacy → Local Network → Xender is enabled.
  3. ISSUE · 03
Slow transfer speed (under 5 MB/s)The PC is likely using an older 802.11n Wi-Fi adapter. Connect the PC via Ethernet to the same router — that bypasses the adapter bottleneck entirely.
  4. ISSUE · 04
Transfer stalls at a specific percentagePhone went to sleep. Keep the mobile screen awake during large transfers (tap the screen every 30 seconds, or enable the app's built-in screen-on-during-transfer toggle).
  5. ISSUE · 05
Mac can't pairMac has no native app — you must use Xender Web in a browser. Direct-download versions floating around third-party sites are unofficial and usually out of date.

Common questions about Xender on PC

How do I connect Xender to PC?
Open web.xender.com in any browser on the PC, launch the mobile app, tap Connect PC, and scan the QR code. The pairing takes under 15 seconds and requires no installation on the computer.
Does Xender for PC have a Windows app?
Yes. The official Xender for PC Windows client is available in the Microsoft Store for Windows 10 and 11. Search Xender Share Music Transfer and click Get. The native client gives a faster interface than the web version if you transfer to the same PC often.
Does Xender for PC work on Mac?
Yes, through the web client. Open any browser on macOS and go to web.xender.com — the interface and transfer speeds are the same Xender for PC experience as on Windows. There is no native Mac installer.
Can I use Xender for PC without installing anything?
Yes. Xender Web is the no-install Xender for PC method. It runs inside any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS and handles the same file types and sizes as the desktop app.
Do the phone and PC need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
Yes — both devices should be on the same local network. The app uses the LAN to create the direct peer-to-peer link. Home, office or hotel Wi-Fi all work fine.
Is Xender for PC free?
Yes. Both Xender for PC paths — the web client and the Microsoft Store Windows app — are completely free. There are no premium tiers, no transfer limits, and no ads inside the app window itself.
How fast is Xender for PC?
Up to 40 MB/s. The Xender for PC bottleneck is usually the Wi-Fi adapter rather than the app — modern 802.11ac and Wi-Fi 6 adapters hit the full speed. Older 802.11n hardware caps around 15 MB/s.
What file types can I send from phone to PC?
Any file type, any size: photos, 4K video, music, PDFs, APKs, ZIP archives, and entire folders. There is no compression or conversion during transfer.
Can I send files from PC to phone too?
Yes. Both the web client and the Windows app support two-way transfer. Drag a file into the browser tab or Windows app, and it appears on the connected phone within seconds.
Does it require an account?
No. There are no accounts, no email signup, no phone number verification. Pairing is done by QR code and resets the moment the tab is closed.
